It includes the pamphlet "How to join the Navy", with a short query about whether there was a similar pamphet on how to get out of the navy, Garthwaite's National Registration Act card, Certificate of Service, hist training certificate, notes on Mess Account and Pay Down, and a pocket pictoral Gospel of St. John.

Willard L. Metcalf Diary, 1882-1883
Willard L. Metcalf kept a record of an exploration trip to Oraibi in the Southwest where he had gone to illustrate some Frank H. Cushing articles for Century Magazine. He later became a landscape painter. The manuscript is entitled "Zuni Indian Trip" and is dated December 7, 1882, to February 1, 1883. A typed copy also done by Metcalf is with the original.
